Belfast-born Charra Tea is living her dream, celebrating her sixth year of doing drag as part of the latest cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
Known to her thousands of Instagram followers as the ‘Primary Colour Princess’, Charra is ready to face fierce competition and make Northern Ireland proud.
Charra Tea, performed by James Martin, has captivated audiences with her vibrant and unique style. Starting her drag journey while working in a Belfast charity shop, she was inspired by the fabulous clothes and costumes that came through the doors. ‘I was always so jealous that I wasn’t able to wear them, and then one day I thought, you know what, I’m going to start drag,’ said Charra.
‘Blu and Jonbers both did incredible, so there is always that added pressure, but it is exciting as well,’ Charra mentioned. Her perseverance paid off after three auditions, feeling she got the call at just the right moment.
Each episode of the show sees drag queens compete in various challenges, from acting and design to lip-syncing, aiming to be crowned the UK’s Next Drag Superstar. Contestants face rigorous judging from RuPaul, Michelle Visage, and a panel of celebrity guests.
Competing against 12 other queens, Charra aims to shine and stand out, carrying the hopes and pride of Northern Ireland with her.
